Some stories are too special not to come full circle—and that’s exactly what happened with this unforgettable engagement session at Redwoods National & State Park. I had the absolute joy of photographing Haley & Jakob’s wedding last October in Georgia. From the moment we met, it was clear how deeply connected they are—not just to each other, but to nature and the places that hold meaning in their journey together.
Before their wedding, Haley & Jakob had originally dreamed of doing their engagement photos in the Redwoods, but the timing didn’t align. Wildfires were sweeping through the region, forcing them to change their plans.
Fast forward to this year— Haley & Jakob have been living in Portland, Oregon for a while now, and when I let them know I’d be traveling to the West Coast, they didn’t hesitate. “We have to do our Redwoods session,” they told me. And just like that, we brought their original vision to life.
Photographing them among the towering redwoods felt like stepping into something sacred. The air was crisp, filtered light danced through the ancient trees, and everything felt calm and intentional. We explored quiet trails, laughed until our cheeks hurt, and captured the kind of images that you know will last generations. The emotion was palpable—this session wasn’t just about pretty photos; it was about honoring a moment they’d waited so long for.
For couples dreaming of engagement photos at Redwoods National Park, this session is proof that the best things are worth waiting for. Sometimes the detour becomes part of the magic. And in Haley & Jakob’s case, it made the story even richer.
